I have determined the files to be
Rhapsody in blue parts 1 & 2 from the Menlo Park collection of vintage recordings based on what I uploaded and which of these are shown as still present at
http://www.archive.org/contribute.php?show_done=1
for my account

A search on this title in the audio section revealed no match or links.

Then I did a test as follows based on my uploaded directory and filename

wget http://www.archive.org/download/rhapblue11924/rhapblue11924.flac
redirects to a valid file link 1 for cont id 21645
http://audio24.archive.org/1/audio/rhapblue11924/rhapblue11924.flac

wget
http://www.archive.org/download/rhapblue21924/rhapblue21924.flac
redirects to a valid file link 2 for cont id 21646
http://audio25.archive.org/2/audio/rhapblue21924/rhapblue21924.flac

I couldnt find any other information using links which I believe should be valid

thank you

Hey there,

Unfortunately I'm in Berlin right now, so you didn't get informed at the same time as the removal, but you're correct, someone raised concerns about the rights issues on those items, so they've been taken offline for now - please mail me at simon at archive dot org for more information, if nobody else has contacted you yet.

Thanks,
Simon.

I had never been informed of this by anyone until your message.

If you want you can view the files online at:
http://www.edisonnj.org/menlopark/vintage/victor.asp

I believe they would have cleared any copyright issues before making these recordings public.

Just for curiousity who made copyright claims on these old recordings.

Thank you

Hey there,

I know that a museum have made these recordings available, but unfortunately they may not be right in this case - please mail me at simon at archive dot org and we can discuss further proof you can provide. Again, we want to make as much material available as possible (and your uploads have been really great, especially the early presidential material which is clearly PD!), but we also need to err on the side of caution when we get specific reports about possible rights issues.

Thanks again,
Simon.

thanks I understand your position and did send you an email today.
Unfortunately after some independant research it does seem that they are probably in violation on this recording.

I did a quick search on Google using entries
"Rhapsody in Blue" copyright

found an encyclopedia link
http://www.nationmaster.com/encyclopedia/Rhapsody-in-Blue

which states the copyright expires 2007 in EU and some 20 years later in US.

thanks for fixing my unintentional mistake on this 80 year old recording,
